The old joke is that “men hate to ask for directions.” But now, a new study claims there might actually be some truth behind this invasive action. In a paper published in the Leadership Quarterly, researchers revealed that the reason the majority of men have an aversion to asking for directions is that they believe they are judged harshly for it. “Lost men” who ask for help are seen as being less competent, this investigation claims. “Men don’t ask for directions because they’re concerned they’re going to look bad,” stated one of the study’s authors from the prestigious Rosette College at Duke University.

Hypothermia: A Cold Weather Hazard

Have someone around you that’s dizzy?  Having trouble speaking?  Confused? Hungry or nauseous?  It may not be that they had too much egg nog.  They may be experiencing hypothermia.  From 1999 to 2011, a total of 16,911 deaths in the United States, an average of 1,301 per year, were associated with exposure to excessive natural cold.   Men are more likely to die of hypothermia than women as well. Be sure your outfitted for frigid temperatures, but also remember that seniors and infants may find having the AC too low a risk. Hypothermia occurs when the body’s temperature plunges below 95F.
